Winter squash, Waltham Butternut (Cucurbita moschata)

Surprisingly creamy, this winter squash is bred for its great flavor and large amount of flesh relative to the seed cavity. Stores well on the shelf. Delicious right from the oven, great in soups and stews, shredded into bread and cake recipes, or as an alternative to pumpkin in pies.

  • Full sun
  • Direct sow outdoors after last frost: May-June
