Summer squash, Yellow Crookneck (Cucurbita pepo)

It’s easy to find this garden classic on the plant, thanks to its bright yellow color. Heirloom squash have a mild zucchini flavor and are best harvested small and tender at around 6” long. Left on the plant, the fruit mature to a large, warty, decorative orange gourd.
