There are a bunch of seed-related events taking place in southeast Michigan in March, and Ann Arbor Seed Company is excited to be a part of many of them. Here’s the rundown:
Friday 3/4, 6-8:30pm
Ann Arbor Reskilling Festival Skill Share at Northside Community Center, Ann Arbor. Potluck at 6pm, followed by Eric at 7pm, sharing his expertise in seed saving in the garden or small farm. Facebook event posting for more info.
Saturday 3/12: Triple header!
- Ann Arbor Seed Co. Season Kick-Off: 10am-1pm at Downtown Home and Garden, Ann Arbor. Have an old pack of seeds that you’re not sure are still good to plant? Bring them in and learn how to do a simple germination test (we’ll also have some practice seeds on hand). Stacy will also be available to answer questions about seeds and gardening and compare favorite varieties. Parking is limited at DH&G, so please use street parking for this event.
- Project Grow Seed Share: 10-11:30am, also at Downtown Home and Garden. Bring in seeds that you saved or purchased to exchange with other gardeners - a great way to try something new! The public is welcome; you don’t need to be a Project Grow member or bring seeds to participate. For more info, see Project Grow's Facebook page. Parking is limited at DH&G, so please use street parking for this event.
- Garden Mill Green Thumb Series - Seed Saving: 11am-12pm at Garden Mill in Chelsea. Eric will share his passion for seed saving and show how accessible the process is for gardeners, with no need for expensive equipment. Facebook event posting for more info.
Saturday 3/19, 1-4pm
Growing Hope Garden Season Kickoff at Grace Fellowship Church in Ypsilanti. The Kickoff will feature a seed swap, cooking demos, 20 community groups sharing gardening tips, and a chance to buy gardening supplies from Ypsilanti Garden Supply Store. Details and sign-up.
Sunday 3/20, 1-4pm
4th Annual CSA Fair at Cultivate Coffee and TapHouse in Ypsilanti. We’ll be selling seeds at this free event, along with our friends from Nature and Nurture Seeds.
